Migrating products from Shopify to Wix is the most important step in switching platforms. Get it right and your new Wix store launches with a complete product catalog ready to sell. Get it wrong and you spend days manually fixing missing descriptions, broken variants, and products with no images.
The challenge is that Shopify and Wix store product data differently. This guide shows you the fastest way to migrate all your products from Shopify to Wix correctly — including variants, images, and pricing.
What Makes Shopify to Wix Product Migration Tricky
Most store owners try the obvious approach first — export from Shopify, import to Wix. It fails immediately. Wix rejects the Shopify CSV because the column names are different, the row structure for variants is different, and the image format is different.
Shopify uses a "Handle" column to group variants. Wix uses a "handleId" column. Shopify calls the description "Body (HTML)". Wix calls it "description". These are not small differences you can fix with a quick find-and-replace — the entire file structure needs to be rebuilt in Wix format.
WixSync does this conversion automatically. You upload your Shopify export and download a Wix-ready file in under two minutes.
Before You Start — What to Check
Check your product count. WixSync's Basic plan covers up to 1,000 products for $59. The Standard plan covers 5,000 products for $99. If you have more products you need the Business plan at $159 for up to 9,000 products.
Check your variant structure. Products with more than 3 option types — for example Size, Color, and Material all on one product — may need manual adjustment after import. Wix supports up to 3 product options per product.
Check your images. Product images in Wix point to URLs from your Shopify store. They display correctly until you cancel your Shopify subscription. Plan to re-upload images to Wix before shutting down Shopify.
Step-by-Step: Migrate Products from Shopify to Wix
Step 1 — Export from Shopify
In your Shopify admin go to Products. Click Export in the top right corner. Select All products. Choose the CSV format option. Download the file.
Your export will include all products, variants, images, prices, SKUs, and inventory data in Shopify's format.
Step 2 — Convert with WixSync
Go to wixsync.com/converter/convert/ and sign in. Upload your Shopify export file. WixSync processes the file and converts it to Wix format, separating simple products from variant products and building the correct row structure for each.
The conversion generates both V1 and V3 format files automatically.
Step 3 — Download and extract the ZIP
After conversion download the ZIP file. Extract it on your computer. Inside you will find two folders — catalog_v1 and catalog_v3. Each folder contains CSV files for your products.
Step 4 — Import to Wix
In your Wix dashboard go to Store Products. Click More Actions then Import Products. Upload the CSV file from catalog_v3. If your store uses the classic Wix format, use the file from catalog_v1 instead.
Wix will validate the file and show you how many products will be imported. Confirm the import and wait for it to complete.
Step 5 — Verify your products
After import check your Wix store for these things:
Product count matches your Shopify store.
Titles and descriptions are showing correctly.
Variants are grouped under their parent products.
Prices are correct including surcharges for variant pricing.
Images are loading from your Shopify URLs.
Fix any issues before going live with your new Wix store.
Products That Need Special Attention
Products with more than 3 options
Wix supports a maximum of 3 product options. If any Shopify products have 4 or more option types, WixSync will include the first 3 options in the converted file. You will need to handle additional options manually in Wix after import.
Products with more than 100 variants
Wix has a limit of 1,000 variants per product. Very complex products with many size and color combinations may hit this limit. If a product imports incorrectly check whether the variant count exceeds Wix's limits.
Digital products
Wix handles digital products differently from physical products. Digital products from Shopify may need to be set up manually in Wix after the physical product catalog is imported.
Gift cards
Gift cards are a Shopify-specific product type that does not exist in Wix Stores. These will need to be handled separately.
After Migration — Important Steps
Set up your payment gateway. Wix Payments is built into Wix but you need to configure it separately. PayPal, Stripe, and other gateways are available.
Configure shipping rates. Your Shopify shipping rules do not transfer. Set up shipping zones and rates in Wix before going live.
Set up tax rules. Tax configuration is separate in Wix. Make sure your tax settings match your Shopify setup before accepting orders.
Test the checkout. Before going live, run a test order through your Wix store to make sure the full purchase flow works correctly.
Set up 301 redirects. If your Shopify store had established search rankings, redirect old product URLs to new Wix product URLs to preserve SEO value.
